I had paid my zakat in previous year, and my savings after paying zakat was QRs.1000. This zakat year, I saved another QRs.1500. My monthly salary is QRs.2,000.
My question to you: do I have to pay zakat on my previous saving as well? Or only this year‟s savings, which is QRs.1,500? Remember I paid my zakat for my previous year and ended up with saving of $1000.
Answer:
For the purpose of calculation of zakat, you will consider the total savings you have currently. How much of that savings came from last year's savings is not relevant for zakat calculation.
